Founded in 1895. 01la means “earthen pot.” 01la podrida means “favorite Spanish stew” or “potpourri.” Summary: All of Frank Lawton’s children and Roy Shurtleff went to Berkeley High. Their activities and photos are given in these year books (especially in the year they graduated), from Winnie in 1902 to Dorothy in 1916. Helen Lawton graduated in June 1912, Harry Peet (and Elizabeth and Guy Witter) in Dec. 1912, Don Lawton in Dec. 1914, and Dorothy Lawton in June 1916. For example, in the 1902 edition, Winifred “Winnie” Lawton appears on pages 29 (photo and signature), 39 (Appearance: Unassuming. Chief accomplishment: Talking and talking. Quotation: “Eager interest in doing good”), 48 (“And Winnie Lawton keeps a dancing school, Where grace and beauties rare are all the rule”), 99 (What I came to Berkeley High School for. Summary: The inside front cover describes the general purpose of the log, followed by a list of staples and first aid supplies to be left by the departing family. The first entry is dated 16 Aug. 1949 by the Miller family. In 1969 the Eugene Shurtleff family took full possession of the house. The inside back cover gives “Agreement on Use of Interlachen Property” (House and Grounds, Boats, General), and Closing Inventory. Note: This cabin was built in 1934 by Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Macondry. The DA speedboat was purchased in 1935, renamed Triad in 1950. Address: Echo Lake, California.
